The workshop brought together a diverse group of experts from the EU and from around the world comprising members of consumer and business groups, representatives of EU Member States, academics and practitioners who have experience of collective redress actions. 

During the workshop, participants could learn about the European model of collective redress and the different options provided for by the Directive. Participants gained valuable insight from experts, were able to share their own ideas and contributed to game-changing solutions for consumer collective redress.

The discussion focused on:

  • criteria for designating qualified entities and for admissibility of representative actions;
  • funding of representative actions and public assistance given to qualified entities;
  • consumer information, consumer participation in redress actions, and distribution of redress awarded to consumers (including the use of IT tools).
